Kaakie To Drop New Song For March

Kaaki
Ghana's biggest female Dancehall singjay - Kaakie - joined the list of celebrities with a growing number of fans on social media by accumulating a total number of 3,555 in just nine months since her page went live.

Kaakie’s page went live in June 2011 and coincided with the release of her debut single, “Ewoo” which was later redone by Afro- Dancehall Superstar Samini featuring her versions of the original song and re-titled Papistic. The "Ewoo" song became more popular with Stonebwoy doing a refix for it as well as the Zionites reggae group (Lingua Kat & Bigg Nabb).

Her fan base went up with the release of “Too much”. The release of her third single “Toffe pon Tongue” pronounced by her facebook fans as “TPT” in January 2012 however tripled it. Other fans have come to rephrased "Toffee Pon Tongue" too as "Obolo bolo" (due to the easy flow Ga hook which comes along with it).

It will be impressive to note that, apart from recording and attending school, Kaakie takes time off her busy schedule to regularly interact with her facebook fans sharing updates on her latest works and responding to her fans many questions, a check on the page http://www.facebook.com/Kaakie can attest to that fact.

Commenting on her achievement, Kaakie stated that, she is thankful to all and sundry who have showed her support and love via facebook and all those who play and appreciate her music every time it’s aired, she further thanked the media for the tremendous support she’s received from them since she started her professional career stressing that without her fans which she affectionately refers to as “family”, the media and God she wouldn’t have reached this far.

Kaakie also expressed her gratitude to Ghanaian Afro-Dancehall star Samini, his protégé Stonebwoy Burniton, Lingua Kat (of Zionites) and the entire High Grade Family, who have all been supportive of her career helping her to pen down songs.

She later revealed that she will at end of the month release a song that will be dedicated to her fans, the media and everybody who has been supportive her career.

Meanwhile Kaakie’s record label, Xtra Large (XL) Music headed by record producer Jam Master Jay has revealed that, the video for both “Too much” and “Toffee Pon Tongue” are works in progress, as the team and leading music video production outfit PHAMOUS PHILMS are working behind the scenes to ensure the production of high quality videos for the songs.

The only truly female Dancehall artiste in the Ghanaian music industry now, Kaakie made her professional entry into music through the Charterhouse produced music reality TV show, Stars of the Future, where her exploits took her to the final. Her inability to win the competition did not discourage her from moving on with her dream to achieve greatness in Music. She later signed a recording deal with Xtra Large Music, a Ghana-American record label owned by one of Ghana’s finest producer, Jam Master Jay popularly known as “JMJ Baby” and music cum talent development guru, Royce Greene.

20 year old, Kaakie is a product of Achimota School where she completed in 2009. She is currently a level 200 Bachelor of Science in Nursing Student at the University of Ghana Legon - she will be 21 on March 28, 2012.
