“The Ghana Movie Industry is Very Dry” - Juliet Ibrahim

Juliet Ibrahim
Her alluring looks makes most people who see her in movies take their remote to press the pause button to have a still glance of her. Juliet Ibrahim, the fiancée of a notorious armed robber in Crime to Christ, an actress and a business woman extraordinaire regrets in her pioneer act (Crime to Christ).

In an interview with www.233times.com, Mrs. Juliet Safo (nee Ibrahim) the benevolent-heart and queen of movies, revealed some surprising side of her which is new to all her fans. In a 20minutes interview with this reporter, Juliet Ibrahim, who according to her watch the movie that floated her in the industry with shyness and extreme regret mentioned that, her first feature which is in Crime to Christ is her worse act ever.

As a popular parlance states ‘first timers are amateurs’, Mrs. Safo considers herself as a victim of this saying. Though her friends and people she call her number one critics applaud her for that performance in Crime to Christ, she still hold to the thought that, she was so unprofessional in it. Rising to the acme in the movie industry, Juliet wish she could act that again and put on her best performance to replace that ‘shyness’.
Asking her thought about the recent developments in the Film Industry in Ghana, she loudly said that, “the movie industry now a days is dry, is very very dry”. According to her, that is the pushing force for many actors who are going outside Ghana to feature in movies. In a discontent with her dryness of the movie industry, this reporter asked her what she means by the movie industry being dry. Her reply was, “Its dry, we don’t have producers anymore, even the old ones don’t want to produce anymore. There is nothing special anymore. We need a change, new producers with great ideas”

In her opinion, Liela and Shirley Frimpong Manso’s movies are the measure gauge for every producer to look up to. “Other movies are in a rush, they can shoot a movie in like 5 days now a days so you can see the movie industry is very dry” she added
Asking if the dryness is the considerable factor that is making her come up with a Production Company which will produce movies, Juliet Ibrahim ‘yes’ it. “Is the same face that we see everyday, if its not Juliet Ibrahim, its Yvonne Nelson, Jackie Appiah or Nadia Buari. There is nothing special anymore in the movie industry”, the wife of a pilot, Juliet added.

According to her (Juliet Ibrahim), there are a lot of movie faces and new names that come up in Nigeria Movie Industry, which is a deficiency in Ghana. “So I want to come up with my own Production which has new faces and new direction, everything brand new” she added.
