Nigerian woman arrested in Ghana Trafficking 3 Ladies

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Ghana Immigration Service at the Elubo Border in the Western Region has arrested a Nigerian woman who attempted to traffic three young Nigerian ladies to Cote d’ Ivoire for prostitution.
The woman, Madam Mercy Onorniyi and the ladies Gloria Okoe, 24 , from Edo State, Blessing Atonie, 19, and Joy Osato Osazuma, 20, both from Benin State, have been sent to the Migration Headquarters for further investigation.
Mr Ernest Kpogo, an official from the Anti Human Trafficking Desk at the Elubo made this known to the Ghana News Agency at Elubo on Saturday.
Mr Kpogo said on December 1 the suspect arrived at the Ghana Migration Departure hall with the ladies and while going through departure formalities, it became clear that Madam Onorniyi for some strange reason was trafficking the ladies to Cote D’ Ivoire and was therefore referred to the anti Human Trafficking Desk for further investigations.
Mr Kpogo said the ladies told the authorities that Madam Onorniyi had assured them in Nigeria of some gainful employment avenues in Cote d’ Ivoire but after crossing the Cotonou border, she told them that they were going to practise prostitution.
He said the ladies who were not satisfied with the information protested vehemently by attempting to alight from the bus on reaching the Aflao border but the bus operator did not allow them to do so.
Mr Kpogo said it was upon their arrival at the Elubo border that the ladies reported their predicament to the immigration officials hence the arrest of Madam Onorniyi.
