War Between Ghanaian And Nigerian Movie Distributers

The Film Distributors Association of Ghana has threatened it may also ban the distribution of Nigerian movies in Ghana if its counterparts in Nigeria goes ahead to ban the distribution of Ghanaian movies.

Nigeria’s Film, Video Producers and Marketers Association (FVPMAN) has placed an embargo on Ghanaian films with effect from the end of this month.

The association said the decision was taken because a similar directive was being enforced in Ghana, but the Vice President of the Film Distributors Association of Ghana, Abdul Sallam Mumuni, told Citi News no such directive was in place in Ghana.
“According to them, Ghanaian marketers are not selling their movies, but this is not true. Personally I believe Ghanaian movies are a threat to their movies because we have overtaken them in the industry,” he opined.

The Film Distributors Association of Ghana was scheduled to have a meeting yesterday to deliberate on the way forward to prevent the ban.
Abdul Sallam Mumuni warned, “We will arrange a meeting with the Nigerians, but if they still hold on to their decision we will do same here in Ghana.”
