Total Darkness At Stadium; ECG Boss Sacked

Blackout Stadium
You may describe it as an gargantuan football disgrace and you would not be far from right. The second round qualifier of the 2014 FIFA World Cup between Ghana and Lesotho was halted for nearly an hour when the floodlights at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi failed to function!!!

The Black Stars were leading by four(4) goals to nil when referee Diatta Badara of Senegal stopped the match due to total darkness.

Following the incident, the Kenyan match commissioner Kasuve Titus Mutukku, gave Ghana an hour to restore lights at the stadium, otherwise he will call the game off.

But thankfully, after nearly an hour of hold-up, the match resumed after power was restored

Meanwhile, Director of Communications at the presidency, Koku Anyidoho has told PeaceFM's Anim Addo in an interview that the Ashanti Regional boss of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been dismissed.

According to him, all those in line of duty at ECG and all those who have something do with the matter will be sacked.

"President Mills is upset and everybody who has a role to play in the matter will have their heads roll...This is unacceptable and the president is upset," Koku Anyidoho said.
