Sarkodie |
Michael Owusu Addo popularly
known as Sarkodie is proposing for an 80%
air play policy of Ghanaian music by media
houses to protect the Ghana music industry.
The BET Best International Act (Africa) nominee was at the KNUST poolside, Kumasi over the weekend for the Senior High School Leavers bash dubbed,
“After Skuul Shower with Sarkodie” organised by CH production.
In an interview with Focus fm’s Kwame Poku (DJ Scientific), Sarkodie made reference to the case in Nigeria where they cherish Nigerian music more than any other.
“Nigerian media houses just don’t play any music.
They play 90% of Nigerian songs and 10% international. No foreign music is played 2 to 3 times in a week”.
Sarkodie is therefore suggesting that such a policy should be adopted in Ghana to help protect and develop the potential of young Ghanaian artists.
He is hoping all Ghanaians double their votes to support him win the BET Best International Act (Africa) Award.
