REVEALING! Smoking Marijuana Relaxes Me – Genevieve Nnaji

Genevieve Nnaji
According to veteran producer, Charles Novia, Genevieve Nnaji has a secret dirty habit of smoking, which alot of people didnt know about:
 QUOTE .
I remember on the third day of recording, one night while shooting at a clinic in Victoria Garden City Extension, I came out for a bit of fresh air while the technical people were setting up for the next scene. I saw Genevieve in a dark corner of the building, smoking a cigarette. ‘Whoops!
You caught me’, she said, laughing. ‘You smoke?’ I asked, a bit surprised. ‘Now and then. It relaxes me ’ she said. ‘Do you smoke?’ ‘Never have. Never will. But I don’t have any problems with people who smoke though.
But health wise, I hope you stop soon.’ I replied. ‘I am trying to. Sit with me a bit, lets talk about this scene ’ I sat with her and I explained some few things to her about the scene. We also talked about a bit of her stardom and how she was coping with it.
She was in a chatty mood and it was a revealing conversation. That evening, I saw a vulnerability in her, I had never seen before. This young lady, by a dint of her talent, hard work or fortune, had super stardom thrust upon her and seemed to have no private life anymore.
She had become one of the most recognizable faces in the continent and whilst enjoying the adulation, she was also coming to terms with the scrutiny of her Privacy, which was not too palatable to her.
I admired her courage and somehow felt that she would go places beyond Nollywood. I remember I told her so. Genevieve was quite particular about make-up. She would spend many minutes, ensuring that her face was well-powdered.

A Letter To Dr. Kwame Nkrumah By Nuhu Mohammed

Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah
I am sincerely glad and highly honored writing to you this day (21st Sept. 2012), your very 103rd birthday celebration. Without any doubt at all I strongly believe that God`s own angels are at your service throwing the biggest party ever for you.

I wish you a happy birthday and an ever lasting peace in your abode. A blissful Happy birthday to you and on this occasion, I want to bring to your notice, some pressing issues in our beloved Ghana. Dear Dr. Nkrumah, both my parents, the people I trust most have sincerely testified positively about your honesty to our motherland Ghana and the entire continent of Africa and its black race.

From your time of   departure from us, your successive colleagues in government have really shown us that you were truly an angel, a man of Dignity, a Peaceful, Loving and Caring angel in a human flesh, in fact we have really known the true meaning of politics and political parties and politicians.

They have messed up the country, sold us to slavery once again, looted our resources into their personal foreign accounts, brought back the poll tax ordinance, destroyed our educational system, made our farmers poor, and above all collapsed the numerous factories you built to provide employment for us and now they have sold all the remaining ones to white foreigners.

We are forced to sleep in the deepest of darkness without electricity, the little electricity is sold out without accountability , we are swallowed up by swamp of flies, engulfed  by filth, forced to sell on the streets , In a nutshell we have been deceived, lied to, enslaved, suppressed and taken for fools in our own motherland.

Our dire appeal to you is, we beg you to forgive us, on behalf of our old people and the current generation, we have come to our senses how we made our enemies fool us without us giving it a second thought. We pray you ask God to permit you to come to our rescue once again before they begin to sell us in boats and ships like they use to do.

Corruption and bribery and pen-robbery has engulfed us and we are sinking in its silt like never before, please save us.

Hoping to read your positive reply, Thank you.

Whizkid Gets Mad At Ghanaian Artist 'DXD'

DXD
DXD
It has come to our notice that Nigerian BET award winner, who is making lots of his unique style is not happy with current happenings as some artiste are biting on his style of music.Report from close source.

First on his list is Ghanaian Dawunixdawuni ‘DXD’ who released his ‘bump N grind’ video shot by pascal aka.The Bump N Grind video which claims has DXD singing exactly like him is set to start rolling across Africa through MTV base,Channel o,trace tv and sound-city. This big budgeted video is also definitely an investment for DXD’s label 360Degrees wouldn’t want to lose because of wizkid claims.DXD released “Bump and Grind” and Like Juju first week in August and “bump and grind” video premieres soon under his new management.360 Degrees believes these songs are forces to reckon with within the Ghanaian music industry and across the world hence they understand wizkid fear as DXD is equally capable of taking over his fan base especially in Ghana.

DXD is a Ghanaian Afro-Beat or Afro-pop /(Rapper/Singer) /composer/song writer/performer and a well rounded Musician who was Born and raised in Accra but hails from a Royal family in the northern part of Ghana Tamale to be precise.Born Suleihu Dawuni Adams, DXD loved music as a kid, but truly discovered his music potential at age thirteen during his JHS days. Prior to him discovering his talent, he was widely influenced by music’s from his parent’s collection from the likes of UB-40.BOB MARLEY, KOJO ANTWI, SIRINA ISSAH and the likes, then at the age of thirteen he started listening to the likes of NAS,JAY-Z,2PAC,NAUGHTY BY NATURE and a host of other hip-hop musicians.

DXD started out as a Hip-Hop artiste moving from one talent hunt to the other, one Radio station to the other for Rap Battles and was highly celebrated back then by his numerous music fans who knew him back then as SUPA SLAM, until quite recently, past experiences and maturity in growing up made him realize he needed a name that best suit him as a Ghanaian and an African for that matter, and that’s how come the name DXD came to being, with the D standing for DAWUNI which happens to be his middle name and the X standing for “xtraordinary” without the E and then the D standing for DAWUNI again.

DXD’s Music career got effective after the change of name when he decided to take to more singing than rap. His first commercial mainstream single after he slowed down on Hip-Hop was “BREAK YOUR BODY” which really got him into the public eye with heavy rotation all over the Night Clubs, Pubs and Radio Stations as well as heavy rotation on the African Beat on VOA (voice of America).
He did some major TV appearances like appearing on ETV’s Late Night Celeb Show as a discovery, also appeared on Crystal TV as the Guest Host for the entertainment show “SOUND BLAST” and also on Crystal TV’s Saturday Morning Show.

DXD has performed on a lot of big platforms like TV3’s “Music Music” as well as the TV3 festival trains. He’s also performed on giant communication platforms such as MTN, TIGO and VODAFONE Shows. He has also shared stage on Bola Rays Empire Entertainment with the likes of R2bees, Kwaw Kesse and any other big acts.

Quite recently DXD was hosted for an exclusive one hour interview on the African Beat on VOA with David Vandy..

Enough Of Your Signature Tunes - Ghana Sound Engineers

Zapp Mallet
Signature tune is a short, pre-recorded sample used by producers as segues between songs that give listeners a brief identification of the producer, generally about 20 seconds or less: . Since the inception of this idea a whole lot of sound engineers in Ghana have come out with their own signature tunes.
Any song you listen to in Ghana now, it’s likely to hear names of producers at the beginning or the middle of the song, eg. ‘Nacy fetsew nwom no”, ”Appietus in the mix”,” padi roro”, ”I don’t know what I go talk oo kase Kaywa”, ”Moris Baby Face”, ”George Forest: Play and Mix”, ”Bassy Mix”, ”Jay Master Jay baby”, ”Bottle Breaker J Q, Lynx and the Last Two Hammer just to mention a few.

Some of the earlier sound engineers to start this was Jay Q, King Cyrus, Hammer of the last two, Agyingo, Morris Baby Face, Appietus, RoRo, King Tyron and few others.
When signature tunes started in Ghana many music lovers in the country thought the  names they heard in the songs were the names of the artiste, until recently there has been some education about signature tunes.
Signature tunes are not bad, what makes it bad and unprofessional is the way and manner they are being used in Ghana. Some engineers put it in the beginning, middle and some few bars before the song ends, all in the name of promoting themselves in the songs they have produced. Do we have to place signature tunes in all songs? The answer is no because a cool worship song doesn`t need a signature tune. Some signature tunes don’t do anything good to the song but rather interrupt the lyrics and brings down the beauty of the songs.

Nana Kwaku Osei aka Nacy has explained the reason why he uses signature tunes. According to him most of the musicians he started working for when he entered into sound engineering were ungrateful. They failed to recognize and mention his name when they went for radio and TV interviews. He also said they fail to acknowledge his name on the inlays of their CD’s and cassettes.

Nacy also said at a point in time he decided not to put his signature tune in the songs again but the singers will complain and will insist that the signature tune should be put in the songs. This is the reason why he decided to promote himself in the songs he produce.

Nacy said it on the weekend entertainment morning show on 16 March 2012 on Rainbow Radio with Agyemang Prempeh formally of channel R’s Total Entertainment 205.
Some sound engineers also think it’s a form of promotion for them because, at certain times when they fail to put their signature tunes in the songs they produce, people give the credits to some sound engineers as the creators of the beats.

Mighty Zapp Mallet does not have his name mentioned on tracks he produces, and one can say he has produced for every credible artiste in Ghana. I like the saying in Akan “adepa na eton ne ho” meaning good things sells by themselves. I don’t think a producer needs to put his name in a song before he becomes popular in Ghana.

RudeBoi
My question is, if you put your signature tune in songs to promote yourself, do you pay the musicians for that publicity? Some of our sound engineers have been able to achieve that and a lot of Ghanaians can easily identify them by their beat.  Some unpopular sound engineers have also adopted this smooth way of promoting themselves, they sometimes put their signature tune in the song for about five to six times which is sometimes boring.

Signature tunes are used in some parts of the world especially America. Khaled Bin Abdul Khaled better known by his stage name DJ Khaled, is an American record producer, radio personality, DJ, rapper & record label executive. He is one person who will like to put his signature tune in songs he produces, he normally puts it in songs he is featured on.

I was passing by a church around North Kaneshie a suburb of Accra and the choristers were learning Ohemaa Mercy “Wobe Ye Kese” . I decided to listen to them while they were singing because it’s one of my favorite tunes. Surprisingly, when they got to some point they all shouted “Naacyyyyyyy” and continued with “fetew nwom no” which simply literally means “mix the song”. I asked my self do they really know that is just the signature tune of the producer?

An elderly man once told me that in Ghana the best musicians whose songs he likes to listen to are Appietus and Nacy. I asked him why and he said they always come out with hit songs. I tried to explain to him that they are just the producers of the songs and not the singers.

On a lighter note, Appietus we need you more on the key board and not on the mic.

Kesse Signs Management Deal With Buzzgh

Kesse
One of Ghana’s finest male vocalists and Project Fame runner-up Kesse has penned a new management deal with entertainment outfit, BUZZGH.
The deal, expected to kick off this month, is seen as a promising one that will effectively mark the re-launch of Kesse’s brand.

In a release issued this week, the company said it hoped to push the artiste to a higher level of creativity and success in the music industry.

The young and highly talented artiste picked up the award for Best Male Vocalist at the last Ghana Music Awards. He is one of the artistes who have been predicted by most to be the next big thing in the music industry and some of his recent exploits have confirmed this assertion.
His debut single ‘Oh Yes’, a soulful highlife ballad, got him an award and successfully introduced him to the local music industry. Since then, he has proved himself as a soulful crooner whose live performances have consistently impressed audiences in both Ghana and Nigeria where he has built a considerable fan base as a result of his exploits at the Project Fame music reality show.

His subsequent appearance on Okyeame Kwame’s ‘Sika’ and the hugely popular ‘Azonto Fiesta’ has given more credence to the hype surrounding the young artiste as one of the best male vocalists currently.
It is believed that the new deal will see the young artiste move into his own and truly live up to expectation, spreading his music throughout the country and beyond its shores as well.

According to Michael Osei, the operations manager of BUZZGH, the company’s decision to sign on the burgeoning artiste was as a result of his long proven ability to woo audiences across the continent in both his studio performances and especially his skill and sheer talent as a live performer.

He added that due to this well known fact, BUZZGH would be looking to extend Kesse’s fan base across the continent while solidifying his local appeal via his soothing music and exceptional live performances.
In a related development, a source close to the company has revealed that in the coming week, the artiste may be premiering the video for his new single with BET African Act of the year, Sarkodie.

Chemphe Storms Central Region With Double P Project

Ghana’s RnB singer Chemphe, after a successful launch of his Double P (campaign for Peace and Against Poverty) project in Accra a month ago, was in the Central Region specifically “Nankasedo” and “Hasuodi” both villages close to Saltpond, for the third session of his Double P project.  The musician was very instrumental in educating the populace on anger management mechanism and resource management to curb the poverty issue.

The village does not have basic utilities like water and light and was an emotional moment for the artiste who pledged to help them in acquiring them in the shortest possible time since it will in a long way help their business.

Chemphe added that though the project is funded by his record label (E-Jam Records), he won’t hesitate to accept corporate bodies and media who want to join the campaign since there is a lot to be done. He added that the campaign is a global one and will achieve a collective goal when other celebrities and corporate bodies embark on similar projects.

Chemphe wept as a result of the rate of vulnerability of the village. Apart from providing them with basic amenities, he intends supporting them to build a KVIP.

He mentioned that though the “Global Citizen” song is getting good airplay in Norway where it was released last year, Ghana is about to experience the real outcome from the lyrics of the song.

He mentioned that the project song’s video will be launched this year though the radio stations are permitted to start giving it a very good airplay to promote the project. Korsah-Brown (CEO, E-Jam Records), Mr Ebo Taylor (Ace Ghanaian Musicians), Sam Genesis (E-Jam and Waz up GH), Robert Abban (E-Jam Records) and other key people made up the research and sensitization team for the village mentioned above.
