Omotola Asked Hollywood Film Makers To Visit Africa For Great Stories

Omotola
Award winning Nollywood actress Omotola Ekeinde has asked Hollywood film makers to visit Africa to discover great stories.

The actress, who is in Jamaica on business as well as to film segments of her television reality series, The Real Omotola, said Hollywood is now resorting to killing children. Her charge follows the creation of the film Hunger Games.

"I can't believe someone allowed that to be made. Hollywood needs to find Africa. Yes, they are superior in terms of financing and technology but for great stories they need to come to us," she said.

Nigeria films are popular in Jamaica and Omotola (or Omosexy as she is known to her fans) has ratcheted up an impressive ‘filmography’. She is listed as one of the most successful actresses to come out of Nollywood.

Omotola explained that acting was never on the cards for her earlier on, as the profession was once frowned upon in Nigeria.

In fact, she really wanted to be a singer. But at age 16, a modeling audition made her turn to acting.

Omotola said what the Jamaicans need to emulate Nollywood for is "Passion."

"The truth is having been there from the start I know what it's like with a few people just doing what they loved, and believing that nothing was impossible. So just get going" she advised.

She also stated that it is hard to track how much is being expended on Nollywood annually. "We have had to deal with a lot of issues including piracy as well as the fact that previously a lot of our films went straight to home video."

Omotola continued, "There is now a change, with the help of technology we are able to produce for cinema. With this, we will better be able to track overall earnings.

Kwadwo Nkansah Liwin Is No Threat - Kwaku Manu

Kwake Manu
A grapevine information to us by one top Kumasi- based movie producer and director has it that movie producers in Kumasi are trying to sabotage Kwaku Manu just like they tried doing to Agya Koo. The reason adduced for the supposed sabotage was that Kwake Manu has been involved in money issues with movie producer Paul Gee.
In a separate interview with kwaku manu on the issue, he stated that he doesn’t have any problem with Paul Gee nor other Kumasi producer.
“If you are a fun of Paul Gee’s movies you will realize he always uses Agya Koo for his movies, so the fact that I am not working with him doesn’t mean we have problems. Also anyone who say’s producers are not employing me just doesn’t know what they are talking about because I have lots of jobs on my desk” he whispered.
He added that, he has also heard people spreading rumors that his fee has decreased, but rather thought it was a figment of their imagination.
“If I want to increase my fee today. I will but you need to look at the system you are in to price the producers according to what they can pay. You don’t have to price them an amount because your friends are pricing big amount” he added.
Talking about his relationship with Lil wayne, he responded that they are very good pals and his impact as an artiste helped Lil wayne to reach where he is now.
“I believe in competition and we having more new faces in the movie industry so the industry can get more attention. My collaboration with Lil wayne has resulted in getting more jobs for him. So if anyone says that the existence of Lil wayne is the reason why I am not getting jobs, it’s a big lie” he said.

Most music lyrics these days do not make sense - T-Blaze

T-Blaze
Hip-life artiste T-Blaze known for the hit song, 'Feelin No Ye Deep' has said the lyrics of songs being produced these days do not make sense.

Speaking to Hitz Entertainment News, T-Blaze indicated that the focus of these songs has shifted from the lyrical content of the song, which used to be the norm in the late 1990s, to just the beat.

He noted that, unlike the 1990s where they focused on the lyrics and the rhymes, “the tempo [now] has gone up and basically it’s not about the lyrics but just the beat and how danceable the track is.”
According to him, songs like Secretary and Feeling No Ye Deep, one could easily explain the subject matter in the song but these days it is not like that anymore.

T-Blaze lamented that, the trend is worrying because an artiste cannot really say much in a song: “the song is so fast you can’t really put the lyrical content in the song, you just have to keep on rhyming.”

T-Blaze will perform alongside other renowned hip-life artistes, including Akatakyie and TH 4 Kwaages, on September 21 at Empire Entertainment’s Back In Da Day Concert.
