The rapper has been with the High Grade family for about 3 months now and from all indications he is going to be with his new showbiz family for a very long time.

Asked why he is changing his name, he said he has now joined a new movement and change of name is just one of the many changes that come with the new movement. He said Yaa Pono was a very strong underground name which made him stand out whiles he was strangling to come out but now that he is doing mainstream music it is only reasonable to change his name to make his brand marketable and easy for people to relate to.

He is very proud with the name Yaa Pono “I am very proud of that name and I have never being shy of it because it one of the things that brought me to the limelight. People mature, life is in stages and change is part of every stage in life so I guess it is just about time”.

Explaining why he chose Proverb as his new name, he said proverbs has always been part of him and his lyrics and he chose proverb because it cuts across and people can relate to it at any part of the world. “I use proverbs in my rap I call it funny proverb (Nsem kua) and I think that is how I want to project myself now”.

Speaking to his new manager Tony Pun who is also the General Manager for Samini Music, he confirmed that Proverb is now part of the High Grade family so Ghanaians should watch out for him.

“He is the most talented Ghanaian rapper the world is yet to discover because he is very versatile unlike most rappers. He sings, he raps and he is the best when it comes to freestyle rap. The world should watch out for Proverb from Ghana”.

Proverb has been underground for some years now and has released a couple singles including “Good Morning” featuring Efya, “London”, “Accra Mall”, and “Shame” among others. He has also written hit songs for some musicians. He wrote the hit song “Shashe wowo” for Stay Jay, “Borga” for Sarkodie, “Ghanaian Lady” for Danso Abiam and many more.

He is currently working his debut album Titled “Chapter One” to be released under Samini Music. Prior to his album release, Proverb will release a number of singles. His first single is expected to be released very soon.

He thanked Panji of Pigen Music for believing in him “I want to thank my godfather Panji for discovering me he will always be my father and the whole Pigen Music family. I thank all my fans, my family and all who have supported me and big ups to Samini”.

Mzbel Releases Statement!

Mzbel
In the wake of developments at the Stand UP GH concert held at the Dome of the Accra international Conference centre last Saturday 26th May 2012, many entertainment critics, writers, bloggers and media analysts have sought to vilify me for been unruly towards the organizers and event managers.

It will be recalled that on the morning after the event I did post a simplified explanation of what in my opinion had let to my inability to perform at the concert referred to on the various social platforms where I communicate constantly with my teeming fans.

Subsequently I have granted interviews to some media houses and online agencies in a bid to relay my side of the story. My claims of my dancers been robbed off me have been debunked by spokespersons of the organizers.

In as much as I agree that a good name is better than riches and would want to do all that is within my power to clear my name of any unpleasantness, I also do not want to dabble in a war of words.

Primarily, I would want to preserve my relationship with the organizers Imajin Advertising and to use this opportunity to apologize to my many fans whose screams and chants in the auditorium sent me on my knees in tears in the dressing room.

I looked forward to putting up an undoubtedly ‘saucy’ show and to connect with and entertain my fans who have stood with me all through this period.Mzbel is in no way unruly or ‘uncontainable’ as aspects of the media have sought to claim. As a matter of fact, Nana Ekua Amoah has a high sense of humour, is easily approachable, and very friendly.

To my fans, I promise you nothing but the best of me, my talent and my music. As you move your feet to my new single ‘She Saw Me’, know that the best is yet to come.

Thank you.

The BET Best International Act (Africa) nominee was at the KNUST poolside, Kumasi over the weekend for the Senior High School Leavers bash dubbed,
“After Skuul Shower with Sarkodie” organised by CH production.

“Nigerian media houses just don’t play any music.

They play 90% of Nigerian songs and 10% international. No foreign music is played 2 to 3 times in a week”.

I Stand a Chance Of Winning BET Award – Sarkodie

Sarkodie
Ghana’s fastest rapper and 2012 Artiste of the Year, Sarkodie has said he is certain of being the first Ghanaian musician to win a BET award.

The talented musician has been nominated alongside other African artistes for this year’s Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

He has been nominated in the Best International Act (Africa) category and will have to beat other strong contenders, Wizkid and Ice Prince from Nigeria, Lira from South Africa, Camp Mulla from Kenya, and Mokobe from Mali for the award.

Speaking in an interview with Hitz Entertainment News, Sarkodie said his nomination is a result of his hard work and believes he stands a greater chance of winning.

According to him, “I think I stand a chance of winning because there is a new crave in town, since I’ve been travelling, I’ve seen the new trend everywhere, its Azonto everywhere and talking about the originators, you can talk about Sarkodie, so I think I have a huge following out there aside Ghana and I know my fans, they are always in support, I know they will vote, things will happen.”

Asked what it will mean to win the award, Sarkodie said it will mean a lot to him because, then, he would not have to explain why he is a good artiste.

He added that, winning the overall Artiste of the Year in Ghana was a clear proof that he is a good artiste.

“If you win a BET [award], of course, it puts you on a different level because now you don’t have to tell people what you do, all you have to say is that you won a BET award and I think we need it to keep us going."

Sarkodie said he has 12 awards in his room and it will be nice to add one more to crown it all.

And after that, we might target the Grammy awards which we are working hard towards, he added.

This year's BET Awards is scheduled for the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, July 2 and Sarkodie is hoping to follow the footsteps of D'banj and 2Face Idibia who were joint winners of the awards last year.

Many of them wore Mikel's Chelsea number 12 jersey shirt and other regalia to display their support for the midfielder and his English club.

This was the day I knew that Chelsa enjoy such great support.  “I am also happy for Mikel. He deserved it."

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg upgrades relationship status

Zuckerberg has updated his relationship status to "married"
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has ended a hectic week which saw his company valued at £106bn after a stock market flotation by getting married.

He wed his long-time girlfriend Priscilla Chan, 27, in a ceremony at his home in Palo Alto, California.
Chan also had a busy week, graduating from medical school on Monday, as Zuckerberg marked his 28th birthday.

The guests believed they were going to celebrate Chan's graduation - but found they were at a wedding instead.
The wedding ring, a "very simple ruby", was designed by Zuckerberg.

Nine years ago the pair met at Harvard, where Zuckerberg founded Facebook in 2004.
They later moved to California, where Facebook has its headquarters, and Chan studied at the medical school of the University of California, San Francisco.

Facebook's valuation after its flotation on Friday means the social network site is worth about the same as internet shopping giant Amazon, and more than the value of stalwarts such as Disney.
Even after the flotation, Zuckerberg continues to control just under 56% of the voting power of the company.

I Don’t Like Sugar Daddies- Debbie Vanessa

Deborah Vanessa
If you are an old man and have dreams of approaching TV star Deborah Vanessa for a love relationship, then you should forget it. This is because the cute lady hates the idea of dating what is famously known as sugar daddies. “I don’t like old men, no. I like young boys, young men, yeah not old men,” she told News-One in an exclusive interview. She added, “I don’t like arrogant cocky men, Men who think they can buy you with their money, it really turns me off. It is like an insult.”

The beautiful lady was named among five hottest women in Ghana a couple of weeks ago by 4Syte TV. She placed third on the list, behind Joselyn Dumas and Nadia, beating Becca and Stephanie Benson who came fourth and fifth respectively. She is one of the people making news in recent times. Deborah had stated that she is not dating now, though she said she had dated before. “I am not dating anybody. I am single and not searching. I am focusing on my career right now.

I don’t think it is right for me to sit and say I’m lonely and so am searching for a guy. Asked what her prospective man should be like, Deborah said, “it is always different because there was this Nigerian boy; I couldn’t stand him. He was bossy. He has a cute face though.

He pursued me like three months. Women love attention and like to be pampered so it was cool. I like someone who has good sense of humour. I like laughing, joking and fooling I don’t like guys who will say I’m silly because I did that. So you must have a good sense of humour. If even you are not successful, you should he hardworking. You have to have something going.
