Criminal Case Against Jim Iyke

Jim Iyke
Popular and controversial Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke last week Tuesday caused a mild drama in an Abuja court after his alleged 15 million naira case was heard.

Nigeriafilms gathered that after the court hearing of his alleged 15 million naira scam case, Jim Iyke allegedly ordered one of his aides to seize a fan’s phone, who has been taking pictures of him at the court premises.
He also allegedly wiped out picture contents of him in the fan’s phone. Jim Iyke was reportedly busy on his phone while his case was heard in court.

Getting to know about the absence of the company’s manager, who invited the police into the case, Habiba Abubakar in court last Tuesday, the actor sought the dismissal of the case but the Magistrate, Azubike Okeagu denied the prayer.

The new mum tells People magazine:      I feel more beautiful than I've ever felt because I've given birth. I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth.

I sure pray to be a mother in 13 years.

Uche Jumbo
A "rude" fan of beautiful Nollywood actress, Uche Jumbo tweeted a negative prediction at her recently, saying "in 13 years, Genevieve and Uche Jombo will be single mothers with no actual father! Isn't Genny a [single] mother already?"

And in a sharp response to the fan's tweet, Uche replied thus...

"I don't know the point of the tweet, but I sure pray to be a mother in 13 years.

Not going to bother [myself about] the single-mother part because my mama taught me better than that."

It would be recalled that the actress recently told a magazine that marriage was among her many plans for the near future but insisted she was taking things easy and that it would come at the right time.

Nollywood star Ramsey Nouah to quit acting

Ramsey Nouah
One of Africa’s brightest movie stars, Ramsey Nouah has disclosed that he is on the verge of bowing out of his cherished love, acting, after about two decades on the silver screen.

The actor made his breakthrough into one of the world’s biggest movie industries, Nollywood, after auditioning and earning a role in the television series, Fortunes, in 1991.

About two decades down the line and starring in several well-known productions, Ramsey Nouah wants to say bye-bye although many think he is still in his prime.

The actor made this astonishing revelation during an interview with Joseph Akahome of Nigerian Entertainment Today.

According to him, “I think I’ve had my fair share. To my fans and loved ones, I know they’ll always want to see me on screen, but as they say, it’s best to leave when the ovation is loudest. I want to leave a very strong legacy. I believe I have left a very strong imprint in that line. There’s no possible way you can mention ‘Nollywood’ without mentioning Ramsey Nouah.”

He however revealed that all is not lost as he will not abandoning the movie industry entirely.

Ramsey wants to spend the future behind the scenes: “Well, I’ll be going behind the scenes. I’ll still be acting a bit here and there, but it will phase out for directing eventually. For a while now, I’ve not really been on the screen, and that’s because I don’t want to act just because I want to be on TV.

“I only want to be associated with the kind of movies that are poised to take the industry to another level, which is where we are headed now. Plus, I want to focus on working behind the scenes.”

Apart from being behind the scenes, Ramsey born in Edo, Nigeria to an Israeli father and a Yoruba mother, said he will also be dedicating his time to humanitarian activities and charitable ventures.

“I started a project at one point in time, but due to circumstances I wasn’t able to see it through, so it didn’t see the light of day, but I’m working on that now and getting the resources together. Like I said, I grew up not having much, so I know the pains. Sometimes you want to help, but greedy people hijack it and in the end, the people who really need the help don’t get it.”

Born Ramsey Tokunbo Nouah Jr, in 16 July 1973, he has starred in several productions such as A Private Storm, Hidden Treasure, True Sacrifice, Last Faculty, Governor’s Wife, Dangerous Twins, and Figurine which earned him Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the 2010 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

Eazzy was not handed over to KOD as Lynx claims

Eazzy
Popular Hip life songstress, Eazzy has described as false, a claim by Lynx Entertainment that she was handed over to a new management team following a mutual agreement.

Lynx Entertainment on Wednesday 25th April, 2012, announced in a press release that it had parted ways with the songstress by handing her over to ace broadcaster cum designer Kofi Okyere Darko also known as KOD.
The release which quoted General Manager of Lynx Ghana, parent company of Lynx Entertaiment, said among other things that Eazzy’s transfer was part of a grand scheme of things that “an artist grows to the point where he or she can successfully make the key decisions which affect his or her career on a regular basis. What made this take longer than we expected was finding a suitable candidate to take over Eazzy’s management. KOD takes over now and lynx will take a back seat and assume a more advisory role.”

However, Eazzy has categorically denied ever reaching any mutual agreement with Lynx Entertainment for her to be transferred stating that her contract with Lynx Entertainment was annulled on the 8th of April 2012 upon her request. The annulment brought to an end a three year business relationship with the record label.
“Yes, I am no more with Lynx, but I think the public has been misinformed. Lynx did not hand me over to KOD” the songstress disclosed.

She said a new management team which includes KOD as an agent, is being put together by herself and that the full complement of the team will be announced in due course.

Eazzy was signed onto Lynx Entertainment in 2009 and has churned out popular songs like ‘Bo Wonsem Mame’, ‘Wengeze’, ‘One Gal ‘and her current hit single ‘Go Go Wind’ . She officially releases her new video of ‘Go Go Wind’ at the Rockstone’s Office on Friday 28th April 2012.

I was never arrested - Van Vicker

Van Vicker
Top Ghanaian actor, Van Vicker has denied rumours in entertainment circles that he was arrested by the police in Lagos, Nigeria, for alleged possession of arms last weekend.

Speaking exclusively to Hitz FM, Wednesday, Van said he was never arrested.

“I need to really get it clear that I was not arrested,” he said, explaining that what he did was to purchased some stage blank gun props from the US which were delivered to him in Nigeria because he was in that country at the time.

He said a few minutes after boarding a flight bound for Ghana with the gun props following due security checks at the airport, he was asked by some officers to come down and identify his bags.

He was told that there was need for State Security Service (SSS) to approve of the props. His trip was then declined by the senior officers so he had to stay for the declaration on the guns and also a cross-check to establish they were just stage guns.

He said he was in the offices of the SSS for a long time. “I was with them for a very long time and then eventually we went to the SSS offices in Ikoyi but because it was really late I had to stay with them overnight and the next day processes were made for me to leave and also certify that the guns were just props,” he said.

The loverboy actor disclosed that on going through all this process at the airport, he contacted his wife and Nollywood actress Uche Jumbo to let them know what was happening in Ghana and Nigeria, hence the ladies liaised with each other and both had a follow up on it.

According to him, “I was just in the process of leaving, I was not being kept for a crime or detained by any police, Uche came to the SSS office and we left the premises.”

Van stressed that he was never arrested or detained at the police station, adding that the process has been completed, he has his stage blank gun props with him and he is back in Ghana to prepare for his next movie shoot and other projects in Malawi.

He noted that the gun props will be used in his upcoming adventure movie so Ghanaians should watch out for his action movies very soon.

Van Vicker noted that he never planned on going for the recently held African Movie Academy Awards contrary to speculations that he could not make it to the awards due to the alleged arrest. He disclosed that he was in the middle of a shoot and could not leave the set to attend the AMAA’S. He also disclosed to Hitz Entertainment News that he will soon be leaving Ghana to Malawi to work on his next movie project.

Agya Koo Dragged TO DOVVSU

BLAY-LEAK
News-One has gathered that Ghana’s award-winning actor Agya Koo has been dragged to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOCCSU) of the Ghana Police Service by his dear wife, Victoria Owusuaa Adomako.

A police source said Victoria had accused Agya Koo of refusing to perform his responsibilities as a father and absolutely neglecting their son.

The popular actor was said to have appeared at the DOVVSU department of the Ministries Police Station in Accra last Monday dressed in an all white suit to answer the charges.
He reportedly denied the allegations and explained that he had fulfilled his responsibilities as a father.
The source said Agya Koo had hinted that he would soon take the boy from Veronica and fly him to Germany to stay with a family member.

Agya Koo and his wife, Victoria, have not been the best of friends in recent times and their marriage of 17 years seems to be hitting the rocks. They no longer stay in the same house.
The two have not kept their differences outside the media, with Agya Koo recently causing the arrest of Victoria who he had accused of stealing one of his cars.
Victoria had denied the allegation of theft and denied ever stealing anything form Agya Koo ever since they got married.

She alleged that Agya Koo had been a very loving and responsible husband but started behaving funny after he became famous and wealthy in recent times.

Victoria had stated publicly that she could not bear the heartbreak and public embarrassment any longer and asked the actor to tell her whether he was no longer interested in the marriage.

Producer threatens to arrest Tonto Dike

Jumping from one set to another among movie stars has become a recurring decimal in Nollywood.

Just last year, an Onitsha based film production outfit, AMACO Investment Limited, owned by Solomon Apete dragged sultry actress Uche Ogbodo before the leadership of the industry, accusing her of a breach of contract and demanding the sum of 2 million Naira from her as a compensation.

However, while this ugly incident is yet to go down well in the industry, another case of abandoning set has erupted. This time, involving Tonto Dikeh and a notable producer based in Asaba.

HVP gathered that the controversial actress disappeared from the set since Monday, and has never bothered to show up till this moment.

Our source said, Tonto left the set, on the pretext that she was travelling to Lagos, only for her to resume work in another production.

As it stands now, the producer is said to have alerted the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria(AGN), and he is threatening to get the actress arrested should she fails to return to his set latest this weekend.

“This is the height of indiscipline in Nollywood. Tonto claimed that she was travelling to Lagos and would be back on Tuesday. Only for her to join another production. We have reported the matter to the Secretary-General of AGN.

“Her absence has delayed the completion of our production which we started nine days ago. We are supposed to be rounding off this weekend but we can’t. Tonto cannot disappear with all the money we have paid her.” an angry source fumed.

Directed by Nonso Ekene Okonkwo, Tonto is starring in the movie alongside Frank Atus, Queen Nwokoye, Oluchi Ukaku among other stars. The movie is titled “ Blood Rage.”

“Kwame Adinkra Did Not Deserve The Record Of The Year Award” - Abeiku Santana

The hung over of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards still lingers in many as there have been several criticisms and appraisals over the awards. Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which crowned Sarkodie as the Artiste of The Year on 14th April, 2012, is still being accessed on Showbiz platforms.

The aftermath of the Awards had its way in the ship house where OK FM, Kwame Despite’s new media birth is. On the popular drive show which is hosted by Ghana’s number one presenter Abeiku Sanata, the winner of Record of The Year Category was examined by the presenter and producer, Appeitus.

The plain-plain Abieku Santa who never beats about the bush on his statement of which many call him Ghana’s brave clearly pointed out that, the award which went to Kwame Adinkra was not deserving. In his own words, Mr. Aggrey who told his listeners that, Kwame Adinkra who is a radio presenter himself has not even played his own song which won him the award more than 10 times on his show.

Considering the nominees of that category, he was far from win as Abeiku, mentioned the nominees and asked that, how can he win that category with this fierce competition?

Appietus who was on phone with Abeiku Santa, the host, laughed over Abeiku’s statement and in a laughter talk, said that “I’ve known you for 15 years and you’ll still not change”, in a translation, Appietus said this in Twi.

Appietus explains Vodafone Ghana Music Awards mistake on stage

Appietus presenting the award to Kwaw Kese
One of the most talked about moments of the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2012 has been the error Appietus made live on stage.

He mentioned Kwaw Kese as the winner of "Highlife Artiste of the Year" category, which got the whole auditorium sparked up. He then blamed the event organisers, Charter House for the error.

Even though the show is over, some people still find Appietus excuse as a weak one. In the sense that, as a professional and creative person he could have handled it better on stage.

Appietus spoke to Peace FM's Entertainment Review host, Akwasi Aboagye and said that he couldn't hear the monitors around him, and he knew Charter House who has been in charge of the Ghana Music Awards for thirteen years now were doing the right thing. He was ready to announce the winner right after the nominees video was done playing.

“People also forgot I came back to say sorry on the stage. If it was insulting, Charter House wouldn't have called me back to give the award again” he said.

He went on to say that,Charter House were not sabotaging him because he had problems with them in the past, but he came back as a matured man on stage again to present the award to Kwaw Kese for Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year category.

D’banj, Don Jazzy saga: Wande Coal withdraws tweet?

In 2009, when Wande Coal stormed the scene as the newest addition to the Mo’hit’s family, everyone saw the bond between him and the Koko master D’banj grow dramatically. It was therefore understandable when during the uproar that followed the split of Don Jazzy and D’Banj, Wande Coal had kept mute.

He was silent everywhere; both on his Twitter and Facebook pages. Until lately, when reports filtered in that the ten ten crooner had allegedly dropped tweets on social networking site Twitter in reaction to a new development on the Mo’Hits trouble only to withdraw the said tweet less than twenty four hours later.

According to the gist, Wande had allegedly reacted to a story blowing in the rumour mills that D’banj allegedly asked Don Jazzy in a leaked email to return the Bentley he (D’banj) reportedly bought for Don Jazzy.
Wande was alleged to have tweeted “saying that he bought a car for Don Jazzy is wrong and untrue. Come onnnnnn. Well I don’t think he said that sha till I see a video of this”
As you read this, the said tweet is not on Wande’s timeline on twitter yet those who swear they saw it are sticking to their story.

Wande Coal has however made no comments to claim or deny this tweet and with the silence has come rather ridiculous guesses that probably hackers had been at work again.

This latest development comes as insiders say another label like Mo’Hits may re-emerge should Don Jazzy manage to rebuild a new music empire that would bare his name and seal alone.
As for the alleged tweet, what do you think is the mystery here? Did the tweet disappear after second thoughts from Wande Coal or is this a tweet that never existed? Share your thoughts.

I will act nude – Majid Michel

Majid Michel
Actor Majid Michel is definitely one of Ghana’s hottest screen acts ever and the actor is envisaging taking his outstanding talent beyond the shores of Africa.

Speaking in an interview with Emma Emerson of Golden Icon TV, based in Houston, US, Majid disclosed that his dream is to feature in a Hollywood movie especially directed by James Cameron of Titanic fame.

“I just want to be in one serious movie directed by James Cameron or any of these Hollywood directors that have done the wild Star Wars or the extraordinary Men in Black … alongside Leonardo DiCaprio or Johnny Depp or a serious action film like Twilight,

“James Cameron, director of Titanic, Avatar, Terminator, him as a director, yes I want to work with him and … that don’t mean I don’t want to work with George Lucas or Steven Spielberg but I will pick him to work with and for production house, any of the Universal Studios, Warner Brothers.”

On the international stage, the fine looking actor of Lebanese and Ghanaian descent disclosed that he wouldn’t mind showing his gifted and endowed asset in a movie.

Majid explained that what he does “is pick up the script, read the script from beginning to end, I accept to shoot the script, I read it, I read the sex scenes in the script and I say I am going to do it … if I know it is James Cameron, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg … I will do it [act nude].”

He explained he will act nude in such a movie because he knows “it won’t look ridiculous, I know it will make so much sense in the story” adding if Halle Berry acted nude to win an Oscar, “so why wouldn’t I do it to get an Oscar.”

His quest for international laurels, he hinted, will however, not stop him from still acting in African movies.

The actor said he discusses every script and role with his wife, Virna, whom he married in 2004. He said his wife understands him but that she turns her face away whenever they are watching a movie of him playing a ‘sex’ role until the whole scene is over.

Majid shot into fame with the hit television series Things We Do For Love and he has not looked back ever since, appearing in popular movies such as Divine Love, Agony of the Christ, Crime to Christ and The Game.

Majid wants to reciprocate his skills to behind the camera and hopes to start directing movies before the year ends.

Charterhouse blacklists VIP

VIP
VIP, the 2011 Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, was conspicuously missing at the 2012 edition because it was not invited by event organizers Charterhouse for rather suspicious reasons.

NEWS-ONE can confirm that though VIP had a Toronto tour, the group had to put the programme on hold and fly to Ghana two days to the awards because it had anticipated that being the 2011 Artiste of the Year, it would be invited to the 2012 edition.

The members of the group were however conspicuously missing from the special guest list dais and were not even invited as observers. They were simply snubbed by Charterhouse.

Reports said Charterhouse did not invite VIP to the awards night though they invited the group for the award’s launch at Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra some months back.
Charterhouse is yet to give an official reason why the main award winners of the 2011 edition did not take part in this year’s show.

It is not certain if the group had made any public pronouncement which Charterhouse was not comfortable with and therefore blacklisted it but it is public knowledge VIP was one of the top music icons that pulled out of the awards ceremony this year at the eleventh hour.

Don’t compare me to Lady Gaga - Nicki Minaj

Blay Leak
Nicki Minaj feels annoyed when she is compared to pop star Lady Gaga because she insists they are “completely different” artists.

Critics often liken the Super Bass hitmaker to Gaga due to their shared love of outrageous costumes and larger-than-life live shows, but Minaj is adamant that she is totally unique.
When asked about the comparisons, Minaj told TV show Nightline, “Offends me, no. Irks me, yes. We are in completely different lanes.

“First of all, I’m a rapper. I’m from southsideJamaica,Queens… Gaga’s a fantastic artist, you know, she paved her way. She’s opened her own lane. But I think that I have my own lane, and we never cross. Ever.

“So, you know, I really don’t get the comparison anymore. Our music doesn’t sound the same. Our stage presence is not the same. I just can’t see the similarities.”

Trigmatic to donate to Save Our Lives orphanage home

Rev.Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo
Fabulous hi-Life musician, Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo popularly known as K.K. Kabobo is said to be ordain a Reverend Minister this coming Saturday, April 14 this year. Speaking to The Moment and Modern Ghana's Nana A. Agyei-tripple last Tuesday, K.K. Kabobo, now Reverend K.K. Kabobo said it's a dream come true to serve God for he (God) is the beginning and the end. “One of our hominid responsibilities is to bear much fruit, bring glory to God.”

Continuing he said, the fact that am a reverend minister now does not mean am going to quit music, am a musician and will use music as a tool to power the society since 96 per cent of our life is music.
But will be chary the kind of shows I perform. For Instance “Onyame Ehuwo” is great songs that caution the world about the coming of Jesus Christ-K.K Kabobo.

Nyatse Nyatse man said most of the so-called pastors of today, “do not preach or teach about the gospel of Christ and we are fed up with the empty rhetoric of some pastors in the african continent, and it's a shame.”
In addition, he noted that “A man, who is good enough to go to heaven, is good enough to be a reverend minister, once, when a Reverend Minister sneezed, men half a world away would blow their noses. Now when a Reverend Minister sneezes nobody else will even say 'Bless You,” he shamefaced, emphasizing he does not have any problem with some men of God who are destroying the gospel only that, as far as he is concerned those who destroy the word of God will be judge one day.

K.K Kabobo explained a Reverend Minister /a Priest as one especially consecrated to the service of a divinity and through whom worship, prayer, sacrifice, or other service is offered to the object of worship, and pardon, blessing, or deliverance is obtained by the worshiper. In earliest history the functions of priest were discharged by the head of the family; later the office became a public one, in many instances associated with that of the sovereign.

He cautioned and advised upcoming pastor to take steps to have a fair knowledge of the industry before venturing into it. “The pastors themselves, those who are coming into the profession; they have to know the impartiality, the boundaries and other things in the profession before they make a fuss of themselves in it,” he opined.

His song, Onyame Ehuwo was declared song of the year in 1992 and it also recorded the uppermost number of records sold in Ghana that same year. He has nine albums to his credit and is expected to drop his tenth soon. K.K. Kabobo is currently a member of the Professional Musicians Association of Ghana (PROMAG) and also a board member of the copyright management team.

He taught as a pupil teacher for two years before starting life as a musician – He established his first band, Explosive Jets, in 1978. In 1981, he dropped his first album which had the smash hit, Nyatse Nyatse (Girl). The 51 year old musician said he currently has eight kids and says, “If God says I should have more, I don't have any option. If God tells me charley, you need more; I don't have anything to say.”
His dexterity on the intruments ensured that he backed artistes such as, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Akosua Agyapong, Kofi Sammy and Dr. Paa Bobo

Last but not least, Rev. K.K Kabobo respectifully invite the general public to the ordination of veteran Ghanaian hi-Life musician, K.K. Kabobo as a Reverend Minister at the Covenant Mission Bible College, Accra, near the Achimota hospital bus stop on Saturday April, 4th at 8:00 am prompt.

NANA YAW Oduro Agyei, known in showbiz as Trigmatic, on April 21 be presenting some building items to the Save Our Lives Orphanage home in Kumasi at the Golden Tulip Hotel which had one of their blocks burnt.
With support coming from International Community School also in Kumasi, Trigmatic indicated that the school has been donating to various orphanages. He said he decided to be a part of it because he was touched after seeing the burnt building causing its inhabitants not having a place to lay their heads.

Already, Trigmatic has a foundation that seeks to educate boys on the street which currently has enrolled one Richard Boateng in school. “But this time, I chose to give out my performance fee, proceeds and sponsorship money to give back to society upon seeing the bizarre incident” he said in an interview with The Heritage.

On what motivates him, he noted that it is just daily life, “it is whatever happens around me and the things I see and hear that I relate to. I am more of a street person and I live in a typical slum where I see people get hurt, hungry and attacked and they come to tell me their problems. In fact, this really helps me to live on.”
