Kwahu OO Kwahu OOO!!!

Kwahu is a region in south-central Ghana, on the west shore of Lake Volta. There are two common spellings, Kwawu and Kwahu. The "w" spelling is the official spelling from the African Studies Centre, University of Ghana, and more resembles the pronunciation. The "h" was put in by Swiss missionaries from Basel, who added the "h" to ensure that Kwa, the first syllable, was not pronounced as "eh." The "h" is not separately pronounced in the name.

The term Kwahu also refers to the variant of Akan language spoken in this region and to the Kwahu-people that come from the region, there are ca. 65.000 Kwahu's. Kwahu are originally Akan people.

The name derives from its myths of origin, "The slave (awa) died (wu)," which was based on an ancient prophecy that a slave would die so the wandering tribe of Akan would know where to settle. The myth was part of the historical stories of the Agona matriclan, the first paramount lineage of Kwawu, and was later adopted by the Bretuao-Tena matriclan (Twidan) who later replaced them.

The paramount chief and the royal matrilineage of the Kwawu reside at Abene, north of Abetifi on the banks of the highlands. Abetifi (Tena matriclan) is the head of the Adonten (vanguard). Obo (Aduana, Ada, Amoakade) is the head of the Nifa (Right Division) Aduamoa (Dwumena, Asona) is the head of the Benkum (Left Division).

As part of the Asante Empire, Kwawu had an Asante emissary, governor or ambassador at Atibe, next to Mpraeso, of the Ekuona matriclan). To indicate its independence from Asante in 1888 the Kwawu assassinated the Asante emissary in Atibe, about the time of the arrival of the Basel missionaries from Switzerland. The Kwawu royals invited the missionaries to build their mission in Abetifi. Obo led the pro-Asante opposition to the Swiss.

THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE ON EARTH WHERE EASTER IS SO IMPORTANT ,HOPEFULLY THE COMING ONE WILL BE JUST AS GOOD AS ALL THE WONDERFUL ONES BEFORE.

This years expectation is very high and all roads will lead to the Eastern Region once again from 6th of April 2012 for all the excitement that has come to be associated with the Kwahu Easter festivities. Kwahu Easter has now become the biggest social gathering to celebrate in Ghana during this festive season.

The Kwahu Easter Festival has always been celebrated with high dose of social activities. The festive occasion has now been etched in the country's annual entertainment calendar, and characterized by plenty of food, music and dancing.

I will advised tourists at Kwahu to desist from alcoholism, drugs and sexual promiscuity this year.

The Media Has Not Been Fair To Me! - Mzbel

One of the hardworking Hiplife artistes, Mzbel has opened up to what she sees as unfair treatment from the  Ghanaian media.
From a humble beginning to now as an established and successful artiste, Nana Ekua Amoah ‘Mzbel’ has had to deal with several stories and scandals ranging from her supposed provocative dressing on stage, being raped and currently news of allegedly slapping a uniformed Police Officer on duty.

Speaking on GhOne’s E-Talk show, Mzbel voiced out some of the things that the Ghanaian media has reported on her, which according to her were the exact opposite of the real issues.
She bemoaned the calculated attempt to always report negative stories about her. According to her, she wonders why she is never asked of her side of any story.

In her line of business, especially as a musician, the above is inevitable, something she concurred, however she believes that there will be balance and her side of issues will also be heard if she is contacted.
When asked of her relationship with the media and if she thinks they have treated her fairly, the not-too-happy Mzbel answered in negative, stressing that she will continue to speak against the negative publicity that she has always received from the media.

Mzbel
“No, they have not been fair to me at all”, she said continuing, “I will say it anytime, any day, anywhere. I don’t know why but I believe because Mzbel sells newspaper… They don’t talk to me; nobody cares what would happen if they write bad stuffs about me.”

Quick checks by GhanaCelebrities indicates that, Mzbel’s inability to grab a deal as one of the many brand ambassadors, like her colleagues are enjoying might be as a result of the constant bad publicity. A quick google search of her name springs up with countless negative stories here and there to the extent that even the UK’s Guardian Newspaper featured her badly reported encounter with the Police Officer.

Touching on the over-hyped incidence involving herself a, the police and two others, Emmanuel Paa Kwesi and Maxwell Mamuli, she said since the case is in court, it would be inappropriate to comment on it. She however mentioned that the news of her having slapped the Police Officer is untrue and hilarious.

Buk Bak to shoot a 3rd video for kolom after spending GH¢10,000

Hiplife duo Buk Bak made up of Prince Bright aka ‘Blink Sparkles’ and Ronny Coaches have denounced the new video of their smash hit song “Kolom” which features stars like; Mzbel, 4X4, VIP, Mandy J among others released on YouTube last week.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com yesterday, they claim the said video leaked without their approval and they have no idea how it got into the public domain. The group disclosed this when Peacefmonline.com quizzed them about their impression on the video and comments in the media that the quality of the video does not much the magnitude of the song.

According to Prince Bright, they were not satisfied with the outcome of the video so they decided to shield it but somehow it is out now and they cannot do anything it because it’s all over the internet and the Television Stations have already aired it. He said they were not happy with the editing and the pictures.

Narrating the whole controversy surrounding the “Kolom” video, Ronny Coaches revealed that they have already shot two music videos for the song. He explained that the leaked video is the first one which was shot and Directed by Issac Offei Awuah of RGB Studios but after the final work, both the artistes and the director agreed to shoot a second video because the quality was not up to the standard they wanted.
Ronny said they gave the same director another chance to produce a better video and paid him for both videos but after the second shoot, the outcome of the second video was even worst because some of the files apparently got missing from the studio. He said they didn’t even take a copy of the second video because they deliberately left it with the director to stop it from coming out.

The group said they have already spent over GH¢10,000 on the two videos, however they were ready to go back on set and shoot a third video to prove all the critics wrong. Adding that the third one was what they actually wanted to release and keep the other two.
They nonetheless, disclosed to Peacefmonline.com that they are going on set this Sunday, April 1, 2012 to shoot a third video which will be directed by Nana Asihene.

Keche’s song is from “Maame Water”

Keche
A prophet, Joshua Awuah Kwaku Kodon aka Odeefuor Pae Mu Ka has prophesised doom for hiplife duo, Keche over their latest hit song, Sokode.

According to the founder and General Overseer of Baiddo Gospel International Church at Akomadan in the Ashanti Region, unless the duo seek divine intervention, Sokode will be the last hit track for the group adding they will languish in obscurity for the next two years.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Drive Time show, Ofie Kwanso, Prophet Kodon explained that the hugely popular Sokode is a product of the spiritual realm and was first launched by the mystical sea goddess known in local parlance as ‘Maame Water’ before Keche released the song.

He claimed God had revealed to him that the song had been charmed resulting in it being irresistible to anybody who hears it, and attributed the popularity and immense airplay Sokode is enjoying now to the charms.

But Keche, comprising Andrew Kofi Cudjoe, aka Keche De, and Joshua Ampah aka Keche Pa, has rubbished Prophet Kodon’s claims that their song came from the spiritual realm.

Keche Pa told Adom Entertainment News that they began writing the song while they were returning home from a show at Sokode (a town in the Volta Region) and completed it later on to make it the hit it is today.

He revealed that they were inspired by Sokode’s (the town) signpost while they were on their way to the town. They played around with the name and Sokode (the song) was crafted out of it so there is no way Prophet Kodom can be right.

The prophet however stuck to his guns and reiterated that Keche can be redeemed from the doom that lies ahead of them only when they seek the mercies of God.

Not stopping there, the prophet also had some very ‘interesting’ revelations about Ghana’s hottest rapper Sarkodie.

He claimed a 13-year old girl would be planted in Sarkodie’s life with whom he would have sexual relations and he would be accused of defilement.

Prophet Kodon said the plot has been hatched by a close friend of the rapper who is seeking his downfall.

Other celebrities like Lapaz Toyota star, Guru and Babie, the bubbly host of TV3 entertainment show, Hot Gossip all had their share of Odeefuor Pae Mu Ka’s prophecies.

He revealed that Babie would be shot dead by her fiancé resulting from a misunderstanding between them.

He however declined to give details of the revelation he had about Guru explaining that Guru’s family had solicited his help so they are taking measures spiritually to avert the situation.

The prophet also cautioned Ghanaians especially Christians and religious leaders not to encourage the Azonto dance because it is devilish and is sent to enslave the people.

VETERAN ACTOR ENEBELI ELEBUWA'S HEALTH WORSENS

That actor Enebeli Elebuwa has been on sick bed in the past six months is no longer news.

The actor who fell sick in 2011 was first taken to Military Hospital Yaba, from there his family started seeking the attention of traditional doctors and he was later asked to return to his residence in Lagos.

Since then, nothing concrete has been heard about Mr. Enebuwa’s health till now.

Nevertheless, we reliably gathered that the sick actor in the past three months has been receiving herbal treatment from a traditional doctor called Ugoma.

As gathered, the traditional medicine man (native doctor) who was consulted by AGN executive members and the actor’s family insisted that he will do everything possible to ensure that Mr. Elebuwa will be free from bondage of stroke.

After three months of unsuccessful attempts to bring the sick man back to normal,Mr. Ugoma disclosed his interest for Mr. Elebuwa to be moved back to his home town in Delta State, where he will commence his treatment.

He alleged that Mr. Elebuwa’s wife is behind his noncompliance to treatment and wants the sick man to leave Lagos and join his brothers and sisters at home who will take proper care of him and administer his medicine as prescribed.

I have concluded with the man two days ago and we agreed that he will go back home.

The man cannot recover in his house here in Lagos, because his wife doesn’t want him to recover. I don’t know what is wrong with her,she fails to give him medicine and administer all herbs as prescribed by me.

After giving her instructions on what to do,she will abandon the drugs and tell him that God will do everything.I am sure that she doesn’t want the man to recover.

I became worried because I have handled issues tougher than that of Enebeli and the person recovered. So,I decided to discuss the matter with Enebeli’s brothers who are in the village, they ordered that he should be brought back home and continue with his medicine.

We agreed that he will leave Delta State today and I will be sending his medicines across to him.He has to go home and every other treatment will continue from there
. Mr. Ugoma stated.

Meanwhile,an insider source revealed that actors and actresses deserted their sick colleague since he left.

“The Ghana Movie Industry is Very Dry” - Juliet Ibrahim

Juliet Ibrahim
Her alluring looks makes most people who see her in movies take their remote to press the pause button to have a still glance of her. Juliet Ibrahim, the fiancée of a notorious armed robber in Crime to Christ, an actress and a business woman extraordinaire regrets in her pioneer act (Crime to Christ).

In an interview with www.233times.com, Mrs. Juliet Safo (nee Ibrahim) the benevolent-heart and queen of movies, revealed some surprising side of her which is new to all her fans. In a 20minutes interview with this reporter, Juliet Ibrahim, who according to her watch the movie that floated her in the industry with shyness and extreme regret mentioned that, her first feature which is in Crime to Christ is her worse act ever.

As a popular parlance states ‘first timers are amateurs’, Mrs. Safo considers herself as a victim of this saying. Though her friends and people she call her number one critics applaud her for that performance in Crime to Christ, she still hold to the thought that, she was so unprofessional in it. Rising to the acme in the movie industry, Juliet wish she could act that again and put on her best performance to replace that ‘shyness’.
Asking her thought about the recent developments in the Film Industry in Ghana, she loudly said that, “the movie industry now a days is dry, is very very dry”. According to her, that is the pushing force for many actors who are going outside Ghana to feature in movies. In a discontent with her dryness of the movie industry, this reporter asked her what she means by the movie industry being dry. Her reply was, “Its dry, we don’t have producers anymore, even the old ones don’t want to produce anymore. There is nothing special anymore. We need a change, new producers with great ideas”

In her opinion, Liela and Shirley Frimpong Manso’s movies are the measure gauge for every producer to look up to. “Other movies are in a rush, they can shoot a movie in like 5 days now a days so you can see the movie industry is very dry” she added
Asking if the dryness is the considerable factor that is making her come up with a Production Company which will produce movies, Juliet Ibrahim ‘yes’ it. “Is the same face that we see everyday, if its not Juliet Ibrahim, its Yvonne Nelson, Jackie Appiah or Nadia Buari. There is nothing special anymore in the movie industry”, the wife of a pilot, Juliet added.

According to her (Juliet Ibrahim), there are a lot of movie faces and new names that come up in Nigeria Movie Industry, which is a deficiency in Ghana. “So I want to come up with my own Production which has new faces and new direction, everything brand new” she added.

Money No Be Problem - Sarkodie Shows Off New Car And New House

Hammer & Sarkodie
Sarkodie has done something that no Ghanaian artist has ever done musically. Sarkodie has played more shows, toured almost around the world and one can tell none of them was free (can never be).

Hammer[R] and Sarkodie (L)at his new house
I recently heard rumors that Sarkodie ditched his ‘life-starter’ Toyota Matrix and got himself a new ‘whip’ and also bought a new home at ‘Ashalley Botwe’.

So far, no one needs to be told LIFE IS GOOD for Mr. Obidi. I’m sure he will always be proud of himself.

Whenever you see a Black Dodge Nitro in traffic, ‘giraffe’ your neck and have a quick glance because it might be Mr. Michael Owusu Addo (Sarkodie) behind the wheels.

One look at the picture and you can tell it’s a new home and new car.

One Ghanaian Artist whose name has become the tongue tip of all showbiz and non-showbiz lovers alike is Sarkodie. He is one of the greatest artists whose name has been tagged with Ghanaian showbiz.

Agya Koo causes arrest of his own wife

The never ending controversy surrounding popular actor, Agya Koo does not seem to be waning any time soon; with the latest twist being the arrest of his wife, Victoria Owusua Adomako for allegedly stealing his car and giving it to her boyfriend. Adom News sources say Victoria was picked up by police at Senya Bereku in the Central region together with her alleged lover, whose name was only given as Kwadwo and who Agya Koo reportedly claims masterminded the stealing of his car.

Agya Koo, real name Alex Kofi Adu and his wife Victoria Owusua Adomako are one of the couples who have received high praise for staying together for a long time; Victoria is hailed for staying with the actor through his grass to grace story while Agya Koo is also praised for not leaving her when he achieved fame.

When Adom News contacted Agya Koo, he denied knowledge about the story saying he had not caused the arrest of anybody and asked the reporter to conduct his own investigations to get to the real truth.

However when Asempa FM’s Yaa Ayisa, visited the Tesano Police Station where the case is being handled, the investigator, Corporal Antwi, confirmed that Agya Koo was indeed behind the arrest of his wife and her alleged boyfriend.

Yaa Ayisa reported that Victoria Owusua Adomako denied stealing her husband’s car or being involved in an extra marital affair and explained that she used the car to transport her belongings from her matrimonial home to a new apartment she rented at Kasoa some three months ago.

Victoria reportedly stated that she left her matrimonial home to avoid the continuous intimidation and humiliation meted out to her by her husband.

Narrating some of her ordeals, Victoria disclosed that Agya Koo always walked her out and locked the door of the room they shared, whenever he was going out or even going to the washroom as if she was an intruder.

She was also dissatisfied that Agya Koo had sidelined and relegated her to the background now that he is rich and famous after she had hustled with him for years in abject poverty.

Victoria insisted that Kwadwo was only her friend and not her lover as her husband wanted people to believe.

She said she heard that Kwadwo had been picked by policemen at his house in Berekum because of her so she drove there to find out if it was true only for her to be arrested as well when she arrived at the house.

Meanwhile, the brother of Victoria’s alleged lover, Abass rubbished Agya Koo’s denial telling Adom News that the actor led a team of policemen to arrest his brother in the early hours of Sunday.

He said the two were first taken to the Abeka Police Station before they were finally transferred to the Tesano Police Station for interrogation.

This is about the second time that controversies surrounding Agya Koo’s love life have become public.

A woman, Mary Aboagye who claimed to also be his wife accused him of not taking care of their five-year old son and subsequently filed a case against him at the Kumasi branch of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service.

Sarkodie ‘Blasts’ Politicians

Sarkodie
Sounding more infuriated than usual, the man who is in the nomination of this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 12 times, Sarkodie is going bananas over the snail pace development in the country.

The rapper cum singer, Michael Owusu Addo
(Sarkodie), is showing more concern than the average Ghanaian will charge on politicians.
Very unusual of a songster to sound political, Sarkodie who went out of the shell of showbiz entered the political realms with hard ‘punches’ on politicians. Preaching on peace, the rapper reminded the listeners that, December is the voting month and he is wishing nothing but a peaceful one. Touching on political parties, Mr. Owusu Addo (Sarkodie) being more precise mentioned that, if you are from New Patriotic Party (NPP), dance according to the rhythm of your party and do not insinuate against any party.

“Everybody should be in their lane; we want peace, because Nana Akuffo Addo doesn’t pay fees. They (politicians) use our money for bread and cheese and we the citizenry sit and survive on gari and beans”, translated in English, his Twi rap had this message. Emphasizing on the aftermath of elections where politicians enjoy in the Jubilee House with meat and wine on their dinner tables, Sarkodie voiced out that, there has been regular elections but no improvement on the motorway. “If I will have my meals, unless I perform on 4 different stages”, he added.

Every ear on his (Sarkodie) voice was anxious on what to hear next. He exclaimed, “I’ve now charged, you don’t respect the state, you pack the country’s money and the needles at Korle Bu are all rusted”. Thinking it will end there; Michael gave the First Man of the State, President Atta Mills his fair share. “Uncle Atta, it’s not the Fante that is relevant. We need more schools at Sogakope, four months children at Ada do not even sleep on mattresses”

Listen to “Issues”, the mixtape from the camp of Dunc Wills Entertainment’s progeny, Sarkodie which features Mohammed and judge the ‘madness’ in his emotional raps.

Google woos Ghanaian musicians to Google Plus

Gyedu Blay Ambolley

Google has held a creative forum for Ghanaian musicians in Accra, introducing artists to the advantages of using Google Plus to promote their music, activities, interaction with fans among others. The event which took place at the Citizen Kofi Entertainment Centre in Osu, saw several musicians and their management in attendance.

Google officials took the artists through how to create and use Google Plus accounts, Google Plus pages, Hang Out, sharing music, videos and other links. During the interactive session, the musicians seemed keen on how to protect their music and privacy on Google Plus, while exploring what added benefits Google plus could have for them over other social media platforms.

Some musicians requested Google to integrate a music player into Google Plus that would allow artists to share music and create playlists for fans to listen to, similar to what other platforms like Facebook have. Another issue that musicians raised with Google was how to monetize their works in the form of sales of music on Google plus, and partnering with YouTube to create revenue on the hits from their videos on YouTube.

Currently the YouTube Partner program doesn’t work in Ghana, and according to Google officials, work is in progress to make the function available in Ghana or for Google to identify videos that have large viewership in order to instigate a partnership from Google.  Google also assured the musicians that the issue of introducing a music player on Google Plus was already under consideration.

The musicians who didn’t already have a Google Plus accounts or pages had the opportunity to create their own with assistance from Google officials.  The forum also saw some performances from some of the participating musicians including Dadie Opanka, Sitso and Asaase Abban. Also present at the forum were Obour, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Edem, Diamond, Atumpan, Pope Skinny, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Bessa Simmons, Yaa  Pono and others.
A similar interaction with other creatives such as poets and fashion designers has also been held. Throughout the week, Google has been holding a series of forums with different groups including developers, businesses, web designers and tech enthusiasts to explore the various supports, products and services from Google.

Ray J Denies Any Involvement in Whitney's Death

Ray J
Ray J -- one of the few people to spend time with Whitney Houston in her last days -- is slamming allegations by the sister of Whitney's ex Bobby Brown that he provided the pop superstar with drugs.

The 31-year-old singer/songwriter issued a statement refuting the claims by Leolah Brown, who appeared on HLN's Dr. Drew show Thursday night.

Ray J Overcome By 'Emptiness' From Whitney's Loss
Brown claimed on the show that she saw Ray J leaving Houston's Beverly Hills hotel room in a hurry on the day she died. "I saw Ray J coming out of the hotel, hiding his head, being pushed into the car," she told Dr. Drew Pinsky. "Why? I looked and I said, 'why is he hiding his face?' He's always trying to show his face when he's around Whitney. Why now? Why are you trying to hide now Ray J?"

Eyewitness Account of Brandy's Whitney Breakdown. She also alleged that Ray J acted as a "runner boy" for Houston's drug supply. Pinsky pointed out during the show that none of Brown's claims could be independently confirmed.

Video: Whitney Houston's Cause of Death Revealed
An attorney for Ray J, Howard E. King, refuted the allegations and said Brown's interview was "rife with false statements." "Even though Leolah Brown was nowhere near the Beverly Hilton Hotel on the day Whitney Houston died, Ms. Brown falsely claimed that Ray J was at the hotel and contributed to Whitney Houston's death," King said in the statement. "Even the most minimal inquiry with anyone actually in contact with Whitney would reveal that Leolah Brown had been out of contact with Whitney for more than a year."

Ray J -- the sister of R&B singer Brandy -- spent time with Houston, 48, in the days leading up to her death on February 11. Days later, he issued a statement expressing "shock and emptiness" at losing his "close friend."

War - BECCA AND EFYA

Becca
Two of Ghana’s top female musicians, Becca and Efya are believed to be at each others throats for what has been described by many in showbiz circle as a clash of the titans.

The rumour mile has it that Efya actually left her group “Iren and Jane” to take on Becca because at a point she realized that the Daa k3 daa singer had virtually taken overvthe female side of the music industry. On the hand,

we were told by a close source that Becca sees Efya as a crawling tortoise hence copying her ‘Becca’ style was to ingratiate herself as ‘Efya’.

Both artistes have five nominations in the upcoming VGMA which is expected to a hotly contested affair. So who rocks, Becca or Efya?

They all can sing with a live band and have aquite similar way of dressing. So is Efya really copying Becca’s style or she’s doing better on a different dimension?

Efya

Over the last two years, Becca has been the highest paid female artiste in Ghana but is being given a run for her money by Efya. Well, the VGMA will determine the best especially where both top female songstress are categorized; ‘Artiste of the Year, The Best Female Vocal Artiste and The Song Writer of the Year.’

Both had their breakthroughs from reality shows, Becca from “Mentor 2” whilst Efya gained prominence from “Stars of the future 1.”

2 Face Turns Juju Music Artiste?

Top Nigerian music star 2Face Idibia has tried his luck with another genre of music, Juju music, which is a type of music that originated from the Yoruba tribe in South-West of Nigeria.

According to Nigeriafilms.com, Tubaba, as he is also called, did a collaboration with an America-based Nigerian Juju star, King Rokan.

King Rokan featured 2Face in a song titled 'Magbagbe'. Trust 2Face, he killed the song with his sweet vocals.
One wonders if 2Face will shift tent to other genres of music if given the opportunity to do so.

That is why he is called the king of contemporary Nigerian music.

Kim KardashianWhile promoting her new fragrance at the London Hotel in West Hollywood, California, Thursday night, Kim Kardashian's perfect ensemble was temporarily ruined when she was showered with flour while walking the red carpet. The reality star was a surprisingly good sport about the whole ordeal, cleaning off her hair and blazer and even laughing about the incident.

"That probably is the craziest, unexpected, weird thing that ever happened to me," she told E! online. "Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder and that's a whole lot of translucent powder right there." Kardashian declined to press charges against the woman who threw the flour bomb, begging the question:

Was this all a big publicity stunt? After all, she just got hundreds of media outlets to mention her new perfume.
